Twitter is one of the biggest social network on the web. With more than 550 million users and 58 million tweets everyday, it is inevitable, you will have to sign up on Twitter if you want to promote your brand on Social Media. But it is one thing to be "present", it is another one to be "active" and make your time worth. Because yes, a proper Twitter management takes time, a lot of it. Here are a few tricks and tips to get your Twitter account on the right track.
1) Get quality followers.
It may seem like the more followers you get the better it is for your business. It is true to an extend. The size of your audience will of course determine the ROI you get out of your Twitter promotion. But the idea is the size does not always matter, at least on social media. The objective is to get quality followers, people who will re tweet your posts, favorite your tweets and will bring you new people as followers. You need to get people to follow you because they like what you are doing and not because they just "follow back"
2) Follow the right people
This part is very close to the previous one. If you want to get the right people to follow you (your target audience) you need to follow the right people too, because they are the ones who will give you the tone, the content and the format in your industry. Nobody was born perfectly able to promote on Twitter. You have to get the right content, with the right format and on the right tone. By following the right people, you will learn how to become this account that attract your target audience.
3) Share often and Share Well.
The third key to a dynamic and growing dynamic Twitter account is a good content. People will follow you if what you post is interesting. Re tweet content from your following crowd, dig into the articles to find the one that your target audience is looking look for, and most important create an added value. The added value of your post is the critical factor that will make your Twitter popular or not. People need to find something that they can use for themselves, and if you manage to do it, they will share the word for you.
Then you need to be posting very often. Due to the flow of posts on Twitter, your lonely tweet will be easily lost in the middle of the ocean of information. You can set up an automatic tweet ( I recommend Buffer, it is easy to use and free), to make sure that even when you are not in front of the computer, your tweet flow is uninterrupted.
4) Do not advertise directly.
It is very tempting once you get a decent audience to promote your business, in the hope that the sales will jump. Getting a ROI on social media takes time and can be very frustrating. Do not advertise directly on Twitter, you will get burned. The moment you will shoot a couple of tweets to promote your products, your audience will start shrinking, and you will loose the interest of the"good" followers, the ones you really need.
But if we can't advertise on Twitter, what's the point of getting on Twitter in the first place? The idea behind any successful social media account is to advertise without advertising, to become a reference in your social sphere, trigger the engagement and increase your brand awareness. it will build you an online credibility and a reputation , and these components will change into sales. Plus it helps your SEO, so it is a win win situation.
So to summarize, target the good people, share some good stuff and don't advertise directly (our next article will explain how to advertise efficiently on Social Media ), and take it EZ.
