A-well-a, everybody heard about the bird as the Trashmen would say. This statement from their song Surfin' Bird fits perfectly to today's reality in Social Media ( If you are already singing the song in your head I will put the video at the bottom of the article don't worry). Twitter, the blue bird, is one of the main website in the sphere of Social Media. With more than 550 million users and 58 million tweets everyday, it is inevitable, you will have to sign up on Twitter if you want to promote your brand on Social Media.
First of all you have to get an account and do some graphic design to make sure that there is a continuum between your website, your blog and your Twitter account. When somebody visits your twitter page, it has to be clear that it is your company. Then once you have everything ready you can start tweeting, and get followers. But sometimes, even when you post like a marketing maniac, you don't see any movement from you followers, and if nobody moves, nobody will see your post except your followers, you won't get the exposure you wanted and your exposure will not improve. Getting followers is easy, getting them to retweet, to approve your message as their own is another story.
So how do I get my followers to retweet my posts? A little bird told me that one part of the problem comes from the followers themselves (and I will stop with the bird jokes). You need different groups of people to get retweeted. You need people to give you interesting posts, and you need people to receive it. For example if you are a car dealer, you will need as your follower (and you have to follow back, don't be that person) influencers in the industry, specialist that will give you the content, the ideas that will interest your follower. And then you need people that are interesting in cars, and by filtering this content, you will become yourself a source of information.
Remember that it is better to get 100 followers that will retweet your post, than a thousand with no retweet at all. So choose who to follow and target people that you want in your followers. Then of course you need content. People will not retweet something that is not interesting, fresh and in line with their interest. Read blogs, articles, stay on top of the information in your industry to get the interest of people, and they will retweet you.
And as promised, to thank you for your patience, here is the bird:
